How can I make a bathroom more modern in a rented apartment?

I live in a rental and my bathroom looks really old and 70s-ish. As I don't own it I can't make big changes (nor want to spend lots of money doing it).

My tiles are a light blue colour, medium sized and the shower is in the bath.

I am looking for more than just changing the bath towel colour and hanging a shower curtain. Any good ideas?|||If you get permission, buy a can of paint, a discontinued colour is usually cheapest, (make sure you buy enough as if it's discontinued, you may not be able to buy a second can if you run out). I'd choose a light cream or white. As either of these are neutral colours, the landlord is more likely to agree to it. Remove any curtains from the window (you can hang them back up when you leave) and place a few plants along the window sill in their place. Two fluffy bath mats that you can alternate between add a touch of luxury and are soft under foot when you step out of the shower. Maybe a chrome towel rail, chrome hooks, and stainless steel shower caddy to hold soap/shampoo etc for inside shower/bath.|||Hi Nacho,

Some renters can paint and others not. If your landlord will let you paint now and then paint it back to white when you move, I say paint it baby. It's the cheapest, fastest way to redo a room. If your looking for modern with light blue tiles, paint walls dark tan or if your bold enough, chocolate brown. Brown and blue look fab together. You can buy a gallon of Walmart's brand paint for about $10-15 bucks. I'd use satin or eggshell in a bathroom. Answer your question?? dm|||Chocolate brown and light blue are a very popular combination (and very modern). You might want to choose a wall paper that has both of those colours. Then you could add accents like a vase for the back of the toilet, or candle holders. You might buy a chocolate brown set of mats (light blue gets dirty too quickly.) Leave the towels to be light blue and do a clear shower curtain so that it doesn't get too dark. Something else you might wanna do would be to have the "display towels" and then install a towel rack on the back of the door for the towels you actually use. Then you don't have to make sure that the "pretty" ones are clean all the time.|||You can change the light fixture or just put a modern covering over it. Add black vases and black picture frames with sharp lines. Put a black door length mirror on the door to make the room look bigger. Put a stainless steel shower caddy on your shower head to organize your things. Hope that helps!
