Is replacing a bath and sink easy enough to DIY?

I am going to replace the sink and bath in my bathroom. This is simply replacing like-for-like and using the existing pipework. I haven鈥檛 a clue how old the existing kit is but I have had a look and already taken the sink off (and pedestal). Rather than mess around taking the taps off I carefully knocked the sink apart and have taken the surround of the bath away - taps hanging off the wall (although safe). I was surprised to find no sink attachment to the wall!

I reckon I could use some compression joints and flexi-hose to replace the sink taps and new sink with pedestal. Although looking at the bath it appears a simple joint connects the bath taps to what appears lead piping. This made me a bit nervous. Is this also just a case of reconnecting to the new taps? Does everything come with a tap set and are all sizes 鈥榬elatively鈥?standard?

I need to order a suite in either way. Also aside a crab-spanner anything else I need? Sorry for all the questions!|||If you look at the age of the house and guesstimate, the bathroom will be the same age.

Nerve pills if lead piping is threatening you ( and yet you think nothing of splitting lead shot between the teeth so you can put in a fishing line and compress it again with the teeth.

Lead is lead

Plumbers made life easy for themselves by having it standardized early on. And there are adapters to refit anything. I am gonna let you figure out the tub yourself (which may mean going to a building supply store and look at a tub and asking there. You learn more. as you will probably need parts.

Take some good sized digital pictures of your situation and show them. Is that not what they are for?|||Yes this can be done by a DIYer. You will need of course to turn off the water to the home before you get into removing piping or taps. I would recommend running to your local hardware store(not home depot or lowes) These are usually run by knowledgeable people. Tell them what you have and they can get the parts you need to make it work.
